Beginning with summer holiday courses, BYS has now developed into a highly successful fortnightly rehearsal programme leading to many special charity events and performances with some 80 active players in 3 orchestras.  One of the great strengths of BYS is the way they manage to combine the fun and enjoyment to be had from music whilst meeting demanding expectations and achieving high standards. 

Andy and Julie Staples would like to thank all the tutors who have helped prepare for this concert but especially Tony Hougham, Catherine Black, Harvey Eagles, Helen Briscoe, Marion McGowan, Helen Tucker and Judith Smith who played at the concert.  We would also like to thank David Curran, our keyboard player, for his support.

Assisted Places Scheme

To ensure that many children are given the chance to participate, BYS fees are kept to a minimum.  However not all parents are in a position to afford these fees.  That is why Battersea Young Strings needs your help.

We encourage and welcome your contribution to the scheme. By assisting in this positive way, you will be playing a major role in both the musical and wider development of local children. While contributions are acknowledged, the scheme is totally confidential. 

The Friends of Battersea Young Strings

For a number of years the ‘Friends’ have provided invaluable financial, practical and moral support to the organisation.  Without their help we could not have achieved such magnificent results.  We would like to express our gratitude to the ‘Friends’ for all their hard work and dedication.

The Battersea Young Strings Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association works with Andy and Julie Staples and takes responsibility for all non-musical aspects and support of the organisation.
