By the night of the concert we calculated that the concert and other events undertaken by the chlidren had raised more than £50,000! Since then the total has grown to more than £65,000. The money raised is being applied to fund a clinical research fellowship. The details are can be found on the LRF web site www.lrf.org.uk The fight against Leukaemia continues. The annual Bikeathons are a major source of finds for the LRF. We were asked whether this year's publicity could include Jamie's story - just 2 weeks before he died Jamie insisted on going to see his friends take part. He surprised everyone by "kicking" Tom Coleman off his bike and taking off on 2 laps of Battersea Park. We of course agreed. Last year Jamie's sister, Isabel, was part of the award winning Gryffindor team and Oracle won the corporate Technology prize. For details on how you can enter visit the Bikeathon web site. That's to the generous
contributions on the night and further events, including the London Bikeathon,
the total has now grown to nearly £65,000 with more events to come.
The children were supported
by their tutors together with Vasko Yassilev, David Thomas and Andrea de
Flamminies from the Royal Opera House. |
